Next Steps for Homeless Men Seeking Overnight Shelter

If you are a man in need of emergency shelter, Shelter KC is here to help, support, and serve you. 

  1. Visit Shelter KC:

    • Location: 1520 Cherry St. Kansas City, MO 64108

    • Look for the gated entrance with a ramp and a sign labeled “Client Entrance.”

    • You can inquire about shelter at any time.

  2. Sign-Up and Check-In:

    • The sign-up process begins daily at 3:00 p.m.

    • Shelter KC operates at capacity most evenings. First-time guests will be prioritized for a bed if they sign up at this time.

    • Unless previous arrangements have been made, check-in closes at 7:00 p.m.

  3. Amenities Provided:

    • Guests receive a meal, bed, and shower for the night.

  4. Safety Requirements:

    • All guests must pass a breathalyzer test.

    • For the safety of everyone, guests must:

      • Agree to a pat-down to check for weapons or contraband.

      • Follow a strict code of conduct during their stay.

  5. Additional Services:

    • You can request to meet with a case manager at any time for assistance and support.

      • Friday Services:

        • Access to our clothing closet.

        • Occasional services such as haircuts, medical exams, and dental exams.

  6. Morning Procedures:

    • Guests must vacate the bunk room by 6:00 a.m. to allow for cleaning, laundry, and preparation for the next evening.

Men Seeking Recovery

Men interested in our recovery program are encouraged to inquire with our front desk. To enter the men's recovery program, there is a process to get in and, typically, guests are not admitted the day they apply.
